"Through The Battle Smoke" is a meditation on the continued genocidal practices of corrupt governments the world over from an indigenous perspective. While this project acknowledges the continuum of atrocities and calls out the oppressors, that is only reading the project at face value. The internal themes of "Through The Battle Smoke" express the love and importance of family and community, allowing vulnerabilities and character flaws to be on view and in an honest light. Holding these values in high regard, "Through The Battle Smoke" maintains the ethos of warrior and farmer, cultivating the soil but keeping the obsidian sharp.
